BRAND VAN EGMOND CELEBRATES A 30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY BY INTRODUCING A NEW ALLIANCE WITH NYMPHENBURG AT TEFAF.
Founded in 1989 – and celebrating this year 30 years of handcrafting lighting sculptures – Brand van Egmond is showcasing their latest work at the upcoming edition of Tefaf, the leading art, antiques and design fair of the world.
New alliance with Nymphenburg
An anniversary ought to be partly about looking back into history, in which we take pride. However, we prefer to celebrate far more by looking forward and forging new partnerships with fellow creatives. Therefore at Tefaf we will showcase a new light, the offspring of our partnership with Nymphenburg, manufacturer of the finest handmade porcelain. Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg is based in Munich, Germany. Their techniques have been handed over from one generation to the other since 1747. Working with leading artists from around the world has allowed them to continue to enchant their clients and collectors for centuries.
We have taken a delicate porcelain rose, made to perfection by the skilled hands of Nymphenburg, and merged it with our sculptural approach towards lighting. It is embraced by casted bronze, protecting it from the passing of time: it is meant to last beyond a single life. For our atelier sustainability means a design that lasts generations, rather than a trend. We have wanted to celebrate our anniversary through creating the heritage of the future.

William Brand, artist and founder of Brand van EgmondThrough his work, William strives to alter conventional environments into spectacular spaces with character and surprise. Many of his lighting compositions are commissioned, where his knowledge and experience is used in order to translate someone’s personal wishes into handcrafted reality. William Brand, designer and owner of the atelier, graduated from the School of Arts in Utrecht in 1988. Combining a love for craftsmanship with pleasure in experimenting and an intricate sense of independence, he founded the atelier. By now his lighting is sold in over 90 countries.
His work has also been seen in the museum Istanbul Modern, Turkey (2017) and the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, USA (2018).
