William Brand, founder of Brand van Egmond, will present new work from his hands during the upcoming edition of Tefaf Maastricht, the leading art, antique and design fair of the world. After graduating from the School of Arts in Utrecht, he founded his own atelier in order to combine his love for craftsmanship with the pleasure of experimenting and an intricate sense of independence.
At Tefaf, for a brief and beautiful moment, the most stunning art of the last 7000 years currently on the market is brought together under one roof. A carefully selected group of international art dealers from all over the world bring their most unique pieces to the city of Maastricht, providing an unrivalled market place for private as well as public collectors.
“TEFAF TELLS RICH STORIES ABOUT ART FROM AROUND THE WORLD AND ACROSS THE AGES, TAKING OUR VISITORS ON A JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY, MAKING UNEXPECTED CONNECTIONS THAT INSPIRE THEM. THEREFORE WE OFFER AN UNSURPASSED QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE AND ONLY BY CONSTANTLY STRIVING FOR THE BEST CAN WE ENSURE THAT WE MAINTAIN THE STANDARDS, FOR WHICH WE ARE KNOWN AND LOVED FOR.
BRAND VAN EGMOND MATCHES OUR CORE VALUES AND WE ARE VERY PROUD TO HAVE THIS ATELIER, BASED IN THE NETHERLANDS, AS OUR LONG TERM PARTNER.”
MANON VAN DEN BEUKEN – HEAD OF FAIR OPERATIONS
”THERE IS NO BETTER VENUE THAN TEFAF TO INTRODUCE A NEW SCULPTURE OF LIGHT, SHOWING A NEW DIMENSION OF MY ATELIER’S CREATIVITY.”
WILLIAM BRAND, FOUNDER OF BRAND VAN EGMOND
There are many reasons to love Tefaf, says William. ‘Foremost the stunning art, carefully brought together and shown as if in a museum. But also the immaculate attention to detail of the fair itself and the art dealers closing the biggest transaction of their lives; all are on view for the open-eyed observer’
Through his work, William strives to alter conventional environments into spectacular spaces with character and surprise. Many of his lighting compositions are commissioned, where his knowledge and experience is used in order to translate personal wishes into handcrafted reality. His work has also been seen in the museum Istanbul Modern, Turkey (2017) and the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, USA (2018).
The 35rd edition of TEFAF Maastricht will be held in the MECC Maastricht, the 24th till the 30th of June 2022. In addition to art and antiques, design and jewellery are also exhibited. For press related questions, please contact us through the email address: [email protected]
