“My first memories are related to forms and shapes. As a child, I was mesmerised by seeing my hands able to create something with paper and pencil, as if I could recreate the world with those simple elements.”
William Brand
William Brand – an award-winning architect and sculptor – is driven by an unrestrained passion for creation. As a multidisciplinary artist, he masterfully blends materials and forms, drawing inspiration from nature, archetypes, music, film, universal human emotions and his own life experiences.
Sculpting stories into metal, glass, gems and minerals, he gives shape to hidden narratives, infusing each piece with a soul of its own.
"I want to delve deep into my soul, seeking the purest essence and create sculptures of light, each layered with meaning."
William Brand stands at the crossroads of art, architecture and design, crafting lighting sculptures that transcend traditional boundaries. Each collection he creates is a fusion of structural precision and artistic expression. His true partner in creation - the space itself - always remains the centrepiece, grounding his work and giving it life.
COMPANY PROFILE
In 1989, intending to transform and elevate unique spaces with lighting, he founded BRAND VAN EGMOND – an atelier committed to crafting extraordinary light objects that blur the line between function and art.
What begins as a simple notebook sketch by William, grows organically into a sculptural lighting object with character, crafted exclusively by hand and with love.
William Brand is an artist who sticks to his attitude, working by himself, with his own hands – drawing on cardboard, cutting the metals and molding the plaster prototypes to produce one-off pieces.
Customisation is at the heart of William’s work and his atelier offers endless possibilities to create objects which perfectly fit the most extraordinary spaces.
Customised and specially commissioned lighting sculptures by BRAND VAN EGMOND, created together with the best interior designers and architects worldwide, grace the interiors of the most eclectic clientele, ranging from Royals to Rappers.
All of his creations are unique and carry marks of handcrafting – deep and rich colours of patina, subtle grinding texture, and little glass characteristics which bestow each lighting sculpture with its individual charm.
